Rapper Kanye West has his first political event in South Carolina on Sunday, as his presidential campaign continues to cause confusion and conflicting reports.

The event was held in the late afternoon at the North Charleston Exquis Center, according to a campaign document obtained by Politico.

Only registered guests were present.

However, the artist has not promoted the event on his social networks.

What Kim Kardashian's husband has shared over the past few days is a list of eight establishments in South Carolina where registered voters can sign for the petition to include their names on the ballot.

"They can also sign up on my website," he added in a tweet.

West has no longer met the deadline to qualify for the ballot in several states, and it is unclear whether he is willing or able to collect enough signatures necessary to qualify in others.  The deadline to stand as an independent candidate in many states has passed.

West first said he would run for president at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards. He ended his acceptance speech for the Video Vanguard Award by saying it would launch by 2020. But in January 2019, he tweeted "2024," apparently delaying his plans.

Kanye West announced his campaign in a message on his social media on July 4 that said: "Now we must fulfill America's promise by trusting God, unifying our vision, and building our future. I am running for President of the United States! "

Fans immediately tweeted their support for the musician and business tycoon, who has a history of promoting himself and his projects with political statements.

Kim Kardashian's husband announced his aspiration for the presidency of the United States.

Days later, he told Forbes magazine that he, who once praised President Donald Trump for the two sharing "alike dragon energy," was "taking off his red hat off" in a reference to Trump's red cap, with the slogan "Make America Great Again".

He recently parted ways with the president regarding the Black Lives Matter movement and protests against police brutality and racial injustice.

In June, West donated $ 2 million to support the families of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor, three black people who were killed in incidents with the police.

In recent years, West has won and lost fans for his vocal support for Trump. West regularly tweeted his admiration for the President, donned a “Make America Great Again” cap and visited the Oval Office.

Since then, his campaign has been the center of conflicting information.

Electoral strategist Steve Kramer, whom he had initially hired to assist him in his election campaign, was quoted by New York Magazine (NYM) as saying that the controversial singer had decided to withdraw from the campaign.

"We were very supportive of getting him on the ballot," said Kramer, who several days after West's representative stopped answering phone calls.

Kim Kardashian's husband gave the reasons why he took refuge in alcohol.

However, TMZ reported that West's campaign had submitted a "Statement of Organization" on Wednesday to the Federal Election Commission, claiming that a Kanye 2020 committee would serve as the main campaign committee for a Western bid.

With elections only four months away, West would still need to register with the Federal Election Commission, file a campaign platform, collect enough signatures to enter the November ballot, and more.

Days later, the artist qualified to appear on the Oklahoma presidential ballot, the first state where he met the requirements before the filing deadline.

A representative for West filed the necessary paperwork and paid for the $ 35,000 filing on Wednesday afternoon, which was the deadline for a place on the state presidential ballot on November 3, the spokeswoman for the Oklahoma Board of Elections said, Misha Mohr.

He was one of three independent presidential candidates who paid the filing fee before the deadline, she added, the others being concert pianist Jade Simmons and cryptocurrency businessman Brock Pierce.
